Gubler’s position will be effective from January 1 2019. She has been on the association’s board since inception and was appointed deputy chair last year.

She will take over from Margaret Snowdon, who will remain part of PASA in the newly created non-executive role of president.

Gubler has close to 30 years’ experience within the pensions industry and has been heavily involved in establishing PASA’s accreditation process. She is recognised by The Pensions Regulator as a defined contribution specialist and is also a fellow of the Pensions management network ambassador.

She said: “We have made a huge amount of progress and are seeing greater demand for PASA’s influence in the industry than ever before. As the options available to trustees and members continue to expand and add even more complexity, the role of the administrator becomes more challenging. To some extent this leads to areas of deep technical specialism and for others it’s a broad-brush understanding. As technology is increasingly able to take over the role of the administrator, we can’t forget the how important those member facing people are in providing much needed care and guidance.

“There is still more to be done and I’m looking forward to leading the way in our continued growth and development, to ensure the industry has access to the best practice, guidance and assessment will eventually see all members receiving a consistently high standard of administration."

Snowdon added: “As chair, it has been a real privilege to watch PASA grow from a fledgling organisation to what is now such an influential voice in the pensions industry. We are at a pivotal point in our development and I’m honoured that the board have chosen me to continue working alongside them in building on what we have achieved in recent years.”
