Mullins will be talking about how professionals can remain complaint in 2019 at the CPD-certified conference on November 7 at the Hilton London Bankside.

Reward Strategy (RS): What do you think delegates will learn from your session?

Rebecca Mullins (RM): “Delegates will learn that there are many different areas for compliance, not just statutory/legislative.

“Whilst statutory/legislative compliance is important for the payroll function other areas of compliance should not be forgotten, as they will have significant impacts on the business and the employee experience.”

RS: What do you think is the biggest challenge facing payroll and HR right now?

RM: “In my opinion, the biggest challenge facing payroll and HR right now is the vast spectrum of employees in the workplace, all with different requirements and expectations. This is evident in the adoption of technology within different businesses and by different generations, for example mobile apps, smart speakers and robotic process automation.”

RS: What do you think has been the most visible change to the payroll and HR industry in the last year?

RM: “I think the most visible change to the payroll and HR industry, over the last 12 months, is around data - for example data visibility, employees having access to more (with more to come in April 2019 with hours on payslips) and expecting to have access at any time of the day or night through a whole variety of applications.

“GDPR has also had a very visible impact on payroll and HR through the collection, storage and usage of employee data.”

RS: What do you think will be a big issue for payroll and reward in the future?

RM: “I think a continued big issue for payroll and reward will be the ongoing move of changing the perception of the functions from being data processors to being strategic, adding value to a business.

“With more and more businesses embracing the future of work, payroll and reward really do need a seat at the table during the strategic and/or board discussions as the implications of implementing this and also getting it wrong are huge.”

Taking place the evening of the conference, The Rewards will be held at the same venue - the industry’s most prestigious awards event. To buy for tickets for either of the events, call 020 7940 4801 or visit the website here.
