Ahead of the Payroll & Reward Conference, Andy Brown, director of payment services, at EQ Global takes part in a short interview.
EQ Global will be speaking at the conference, held on June 5 and 6, at The Chelsea Harbour Hotel, London.
Reward Strategy (RS): What do you think has been the most visible change to the payroll and HR industry in the last year?
Andy Brown (AB): “The increasing level of knowledge that is required within the payroll function. For example, understanding the standalone tax regime for Wales on top of the existing ones in place for England and Scotland.”
RS: What do you think are and will be the biggest trials facing payroll and reward professionals?
AB: “Balancing the traditional ‘cautious’ payroll approach with the drive for automation and immediacy of data.”
RS: What is going to be the biggest area of investment for your business in the next 12 months?
AB: “Reinforcing existing technologies in conjunction with embracing new technologies for example, advanced artificial intelligence.”
RS: Without giving too much away, what two things will delegates learn from your session?
AB: “There are many differences between processing UK domestic payments and international payments. We will discuss the potential risks that companies processing international payments may face which could impact final delivery of payment to their people.
“We will highlight how we worked with our client, PRA Health Sciences, to overcome these potential risks and to help ensure that they pay the right person the right amount at the right time.”
RS: Which categories do you think we will see at The Rewards of the future – say in five years?
AB: “‘Best payroll service without human (apart from the recipient) involvement’ and ‘Most improved AI Robot’.”
