Reward Strategy's 2020 events become digital broadcasts

Following the success of our first ever digital broadcast event, and due to further COVID-19 restrictions, the remainder of Reward Strategy events this year will be digital.

The Payroll & Reward Conference was hosted from a TV studio looking out over Tower Bridge, London, during National Payroll Week (September 8 and 9).

Those that attended the event said: “It was brilliant, very informative, insightful and well-presented.”

Karen Beckett, head of payroll and benefits at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Speakers were all professionals in current HR and payroll legislation. I enjoyed every session and managed to learn things on how to improve our workplace and reward the employees whose work was impacted during lockdown.”

This format will now be adopted for the Reward & Payroll Summit and The Rewards, featuring The Reward 300 Awards, sponsored by Cintra HR & Payroll Services, in December.

Earlier this year, we announced that the Autumn Update Conference has been rebranded to the Reward & Payroll Summit, to better reflect the needs of the growing profession from pay into reward.

The summit will take place across two days, December 10 and 11, and will focus on the key trends and challenges across the pay and reward landscape, including the effects COVID-19 has had on both employers and employees.

The educational event has been running for 15 years and will this year focus on three main themes: Reward, Payroll and Global, giving those attending the opportunity to hear from key speakers working within each area.

The CPD-accredited event will feature:

• COVID-19 business continuity case studies;

• The changing approach to flexible working;

• Taboo subjects such as menopause and fertility policies;

• The impending legislations that were halted or suspended as a result of the virus;

• The importance of financial wellbeing;

• Crucial regulatory updates on payroll, pensions and HR.

In a year in which the pandemic has become a catalyst for innovation, agility and transformation, the progressive agenda will feature fully-interactive digital sessions.
Reward Strategy has partnered with Brella - a clever platform using artificial intelligence to facilitate 1-to-1 meetings with people of interest.

The event will also utilise digital platform slido, an interactive piece of technology to host live Q&As, polls and fun quizzes, to ensure the audience and speakers are engaged throughout the entire conference.

In the evening after the first day of the summit, The Rewards, featuring The Reward 300 Awards, will celebrate a decade of recognition. Reward Strategy will take this opportunity to celebrate the work of both key workers and employers during COVID-19.

Luke Broadhurst, chief executive of Reward Strategy’s parent company Shard Financial Media, said: “Since lockdown, we’ve shown great patience, worked closely with the venues we use, followed government and WHO guidelines, while also dealing with the specific challenge of effective social distancing.

“With the ‘Rule of 6’ and increased local lockdowns, it’s best for us to make a firm and defined commitment to make all our events digital broadcast events for the remainder of 2020.

“Recently, we held our first ever digital event - the Payroll & Reward Conference - and the feedback has been incredible, with many that attended describing it as ’setting the benchmark for online conferences’. Therefore, we are fully prepared for a full move to digital.

“I’ve spoken before about my pride in how our small media business unites large industries and professions. And this is needed more than ever before."

Delegates will be able to attend the Reward & Payroll Summit for a highly discounted price, compared to the cost of attending one of our face-to-face conferences. To book your tickets, click on our booking page.

A: If you are a speaker, please contact our conference producer Kitty Wood: kwood@shardfinancialmedia.com

Q: I booked a table at The Rewards, what happens now?

A: As government policy has rendered large gatherings like our awards ceremonies impossible, you will be given a company licence to view the awards gala presentation.

In a difficult year where staff may have felt isolated from their own organisation and the wider industry, this licence to watch the awards presentation should enable broader inclusivity of the awards programmes.

It will also help to ensure finalists and winners can be recognised for outstanding achievement across a much larger (live) audience. For further queries contact your account manager.
